Reinstating Your Driver’s License In Colorado
Reinstatement of your Colorado driver’s license depends on why it was suspended or revoked. You may need to pay outstanding traffic fines, take level II alcohol classes or meet your financial obligations with child support.

In 2014, the Colorado legislature made significant changes in the laws on alcohol and drug violations, Ignition Interlock and Persistent Drunk Drivers (PDD). These laws may have an impact on your application.
On or after January 1, 2014:
- Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) for being classified as a PDD is lowered from .17 down to .15.
- Refusal of a chemical test at a traffic stop is a PDD
- After one month, DUI drivers can get Interlock.
Prior to January 1, 2014
- If you refused a chemical test and were not permitted to apply for reinstatement with Interlock early you may:
- finish the remainder of your restraint making you eligible for full driving privileges or,
- serve a minimum of 2 months applying for early reinstatement with Interlock for a year.
- Wait time for early reinstatement with Interlock with numerous alcohol violations or BAC refusals is reduced to one or two months.
